Elizabeth Fox manuscript material : 12 items, ca. 1794-1803

· To a General De Grave : 12 autograph letters signed : ca. 1794 - 15 Jun 1803 : (MISC 0532-0543) : in a friendly, familiar tone on various subjects, including: the introduction of young artist W. Fearnside ; a request for him to buy her a shawl ; and statements against the Napoleonic Wars. The first six letters are addressed to "Monsieur De Grave," most with no address place, one to Woodstock and Oxford Streets in London. The later six letters are addressed to "General De Grave" in Paris. The recipient is possibly Pierre Marie, Marquis de Grave (1755-1825), who briefly served as the French Minister of War during the Revolution.
